We're trying to name our federated search. I loath acronyms, so I'm thinking something like "Ah Ha!" but too many 80s associations there. Then I think why bother? Does Amazon have a name for their search? Oh right, it's "Search."

I haven't checked these out myself, but there does seem to be another generation of faster XML/HTML tools for Ruby that have bested Hpricot (not sure about the newer versions of libxml ruby gem):

http://www.rubyinside.com/nokogiri-ruby-html-parser-and-xml-parser-1288.html

http://railstips.org/2008/11/17/happymapper-making-xml-fun-again

At some point I'm going to rip out Kete's use of REXML to parse OAI DC records from Zebra for browse/search and replace it without something faster. The libxml's XPath interface left something to be desired in the past, but apparently it has been greatly improved, along with the speed. Will have to compare it with Nokogirl.

Cheers,
Walter

Is it OK to point out that I'm rather jealous of you getting to take your little one to school? I miss that.
